Fishing

World-renowned fishing, stunning scenery, and an easy-going outdoor culture makes New Zealand the destination for fishing.

Trout and salmon were first introduced to New Zealand in the late 1800s, and they have thrived in local rivers and lakes ever since.

With more than 15,000km of coastline and a rich labyrinth of inland rivers and lakes, New Zealand enjoys a surplus of spectacular fishing opportunities. The trick is knowing where the best ones are.

It is worth noting that trout cannot be fished commercially in New Zealand, so if visitors want to try the local trout, they do have to catch it themselves.

Rainbow and brown trout can be found in most streams and lakes. Some waters in the North Island are home to the purest stain of brown trout in the world. Trout are also plentiful in Lake Wanaka and Lake Hawea – deep in the majestic Central Otago.

James prides himself on having access to the most stunning and remote locations. He specialises in brown and rainbow trout – ranging in size from 4lbs (1.8kg) up to 13lbs (5.9kg).

He also offers an ultimate backcountry experience, which includes remote cabins or tent camping surrounding the high country’s lakes and rivers. Fishing quests are an ideal inclusion within hunting packages.

Join James, and curate your memories and the stories that will last a lifetime.
