Bow Hunting

Bow hunting is available year-round in New Zealand. The four types legally permitted include the compound, the re-curve, the crossbow, and the longbow. The compound bow is the bow of choice for most international sportsmen who pursue New Zealand game within this discipline. When it comes to hunting deer species in this country, a minimum draw weight of 35lbs (15.9kg) is required. Bow-hunting packages with James Gray Hunting & Fishing cover the full gambit – from hunting wallabies for pest control (a recommended starting point) – through to goats and finally…the big game.

A US client joined James for a seven-day bow-hunt in the South Island – taking Possums, Wallabies, Thar, Red Stags and a Chamois. Those animals were all pursued using free range and fair chase.

James brings significant experience and knowledge to the table – along with extreme respect for the process. Tailoring a package and/or facilitating a bow hunting dream quest strikes right at the heart of James’ wheelhouse. Contact him now.
